WW1 – 100 years on
Client: New Zealand Post.
Project: Stamp and Coin Product, including booklets and packaging.
It has been a great privilege to conceptualise and work with the team at New Zealand Post to bring our vision for a commemorative programme of stamps and coins which will be rolled out from 2014-2015 to remember each of the years 1914-1915.
My vision was to bring stories of every-day real New Zealanders to the forefront, to tell what it was like for those at War, and those at home. To bring out the hidden stories, those untold, in a way that would be relatable to the general public. Most New Zealanders have family that were in the war, grandfathers, fathers, uncles, brothers.
To add layers and context to these important stories, we have used a variety of media, photographs, postcards, illustration and diaries, media and news clippings, posters and war art. This in itself tells a very rich story of what life was like in war time New Zealand and globally.
Stamp and Coin product began being launched in 2014 and has been rolling out every year since... concluding in 2018. All products are available for order on New Zealand Posts, stamps and coin website.
