The challenge —
Museums Wellington had an awesome line up of gigs planned for May Music Month.
The gigs were to be held in three of their key spaces.
With a small budget to hand, how do we:
— make people aware should they go to one event, that there are other cool events on during May at other Museums Wellington spaces?
— use the very limited supplied imagery from musicians in the best way possible
— create a cohesive campaign on social media to spread the word?
— and showcase the Museums Wellington brand… so gig goers begin to learn that Museums Wellington have a range of eclectic spaces on offer and cool things happening at each?
The solution —
— Take a key graphical element from the Museums Wellington brand, the X which is appears in the logos of each brand, making this large and using this as a vehicle to cohesively bring an adhoc set of imagery to life.
— We also use the brand colours for each unique venue on the ad where that gig plays, ie Space Place - Purple, Wellington Museum - Blue etc.
The outcome —
A splash was made on social media, the X and colourful background provided a pause between photos and a great contrast on people’s feeds, we had full gigs and sell out gigs!

This needed to include all the Autumn events at Wellington Museum as well as Music Month, so we used the X graphic from the brand and the ‘she shreds’ gals to tie in a little bit with the Music Month branding and listed the rest of the events over top.
